Brief of Company Background
The company began its operation in 1955 as a single branch bank, and obtained a license to operate in foreign exchange transaction in 1974. By the end of 1995, the company has owned 57 branches throughout Indonesia, and has expanded the network abroad with offices in Los Angeles, The Cayman Island, and Hong Kong. In early 1997 it was reported that Rashid Hussain Berhad (RHB) Malaysia has controlled 20% of Bank Niaga shares through crossing transaction in BEJ. In May 1999, RHB sold at least 8 million those shares.
