Brief of Company Background
The company was originally established in 1975 as a joint venture between PT Glassanto and Owens Illinois, Inc., USA. In 1988, Owens Illinois Inc. sold all of its shares in the venture to PT Kalbe Farma, and in 1990 all shares held by PT Glassanto were bought by PT Kimia Farma. Both factories owned by the company are located at the Pulogadung industrial estate in East Jakarta with the total production capacity of 766.7 million units per annum. Since 1976 the company has had a technical agreement with Owens Illinois Inc., USA and Buender Glass and Plastofoam of Germany. Products are distributed through PT Enseval and its network of branches. On March 1995 the company, with 51% shares, joint venture with Schoot Glassware, Jerman, to establish PT Schoot Igar, which engages in pharmaceutical packaging. On June 1995 the company took over two companies operates in packaging, namely PT Avesta Continental Pack with 71,61% share and PT Kageo with 100% share. The company in 1996 has purchased commercial papers issued by Pt. Dongsuh Kobilindo amounting to Rp. 14,896 billion, with an interest of 12 % per annum.
