Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Launches Global K-Seafood Campaign with ZEROBASEONE

  • Leveraging K-POP’s global fandom to promote Korean seafood worldwide
  • Four campaign videos showcasing the unique appeal of Korean flatfish, oysters, GIM (Korean dried laver), and abalone

Seoul, South Korea--(ANTARA/Business Wire)--South Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) is launching a global K-Seafood campaign to raise awareness of Korean seafood and its diverse appeal amid K-food’s growing global popularity.

The campaign leverages the global recognition and influence of K-Culture to position K-Seafood as a distinctive brand. ZEROBASEONE, a K-POP group with a worldwide fandom, has been selected as the featured artist to introduce its appeal to global consumers.

Under the slogan “Give it a Kick, Dive into K-Seafood,” the campaign delivers a clear, memorable message to establish a strong global brand identity. Four dynamic videos showcase featured seafood products—flatfish, oysters, GIM (Korean dried laver), and abalone—in an engaging, visually compelling way.

A highlight of the campaign is its creative approach to presenting each product’s characteristics through trendy expressions and playful language familiar to younger generations:

  • Flatfish: Highlights the theme of “GAK,” a Korean word referring to an angle or edge, with the message “No.1 K-Flatfish! The world-class GAK!” which celebrates Korean flatfish as a world-class seafood choice.
  • Oysters: Focuses on the Korean slang “POM,” referring to style, presence, or impressive form, with the message “Try the POM of K-Oyster. Best bang for your buck,” showcasing oysters as a delicious and exceptional value-packed seafood.
  • GIM: Pairs the Korean expression “ZZIN,” meaning genuine or authentic, with the message “The absolute crispiness. A ZZIN hit that hooked the world,” highlighting GIM as an authentic must-have loved by people around the world for its signature crispy texture.
  • Abalone: Uses the slang “DDING,” expressing surprise or admiration, with the message “One bite, and you’ll go DDING. That’s K-Abalone — a true masterpiece of the sea,” presenting K-Abalone as a must-try seafood hit that leaves a lasting impression from the very first bite.

The MOF expects the campaign to highlight the quality and appeal of Korean seafood worldwide amid rising global interest in K-culture and K-food, while continuing to actively promote and raise awareness of K-Seafood through diverse international content and initiatives.
