Jakarta - The rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar on Friday (13/8) has the potential to weaken to the range of 14,410 per US dollar.

"The US dollar seems to have strengthened against the world's main exchange rates last night and regional exchange rates this morning," said Money Market Observer Ariston Tjendra in Jakarta.

He explained the strengthening of the US dollar because the US producer price index data in July showed an increase, and US weekly jobless claims data showed a decline.

This result could support the tapering policy at the end of the year that Fed officials have echoed.

On the other hand, the improvement in the JCI, which means the market sees opportunities for recovery in risky assets, may be able to restrain the weakening of the rupiah against the US dollar.
