Rupiah Seen Strengthening to Dollar on Falling US Treasury Yield


The rupiah exchange rate (exchange rate) on Tuesday (8/6) has the potential to strengthen, triggered by the yield of 10-year US bonds that were still under pressure at around 1.57% at the moment.

"The decline in yields is because the market expects that the US Central Bank will not do tapering after the US employment data, Non Farm Payrolls in May showed results that were below expectations," said Money Market Observer Ariston Tjendra in Jakarta.

According to Ariston, the market is waiting for US consumer price index data for May, an inflation indicator, to be released on Thursday evening to determine the next price direction.

A figure that is above expectations could push back the strengthening of the US dollar. Consistent inflation data showing an increase above 2% could trigger the US Central Bank to change its policy to become more stringent.
