The rupiah may strengthen on Thursday (6/5) following the positive sentiment of global market players towards risky assets.

Money Market Observer Ariston Tjendra said expectations of global economic recovery supported this sentiment. In addition, support also came from the yield on US treasury yields (10-year tenor US government bonds) which also fell below 1.6%.

"The potential for rupiah strengthening today is in the range of 14,410 per US dollar with potential resistance at the level of 14,450 per US dollar," he said in Jakarta.

However, on the other hand, the strengthening of the rupiah may be limited by the expectation that lower consumption due to the ban on coming home during Eid festive (mudik) will restrain Indonesia's economic growth in the second quarter.
