Garuda Indonesia Losses Swell 26.08% to US$899 Million in First Half 2021


Jakarta - PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk, as of semester I-2021, posted a loss attributable to owners of the parent entity of around US$898.65 million, an increase of 26.08% compared to the same period last year of US$712.72 million.

According to the financial report released on Tuesday (31/8), the increase in the current year's loss was triggered by the low achievement of operating income of US$ 696.80 million, down about 24.03% from the previous period of US$ 917.28 million.

Garuda also had to accept other expenses of US$19.80 million from previously successfully recording additional operating revenues of US$18.69 million.

This was due to the high other expenses of around 4.366% to US$70.38 million from the previous US$1.57 million.

Although foreign exchange gains more than doubled from US$20.27 million to US$50.57 million.

Garuda's financial burden also increased by around 44.77% to US$293.52 million from US$202.74 million.
