BI Survey Sees Inflation 0.01% in July 2021


The Bank Indonesia (BI) price monitoring survey in the third week of July 2021 is forecasted to have inflation of 0.01% month-to-month (MoM).

"Inflation in July 2021 is estimated at 0.75% year-to-date (YtD) and 1.45% year-on-year (YoY) on an annual basis," said BI Communications Department Head Erwin Haryono in a statement on Friday(16/7).

According to him, the main contributors to inflation from July 2021 to the third week were cayenne pepper at 0.03% MoM, tomatoes, kale, onions, spinach, long beans, and filtered kretek cigarettes at 0.01% MoM each.

Meanwhile, some commodities that experienced deflation were chicken meat at -0.08% MoM and chicken eggs at -0.03% MoM. Other commodities contributing to deflation were gold jewelry at -0.02% MoM, oranges at -0.02% MoM, red chilies, and potatoes each at -0.01% MoM.
