Antam Gets Permit for Exporting 1.89 Million Tons of Bauxite for 2021-2022

PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) has obtained metal mineral export approval for the export sale of 1.89 million wet metric tons (wmt) of washed bauxite ore for 2021-2022.

Referring to the IDX's disclosure of information quoted on Thursday (28/1), this mineral export permit complements Antam's previous bauxite ore export license, which is as much as 840 thousand wmt from a chemical grade alumina (CGA) factory in Tayan, West Kalimantan.

Based on the regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 17 of 2020 concerning the third amendment to the regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 25 of 2015 concerning Control of Mineral and Coal Mining, Antam is included in the criteria for companies holding mining business permits (IUP) for bauxite production operations that already own and operate and develop facilities of domestic mineral refining.

This export approval recommendation is extended annually or at the latest until 2023.

In developing the bauxite commodity, Antam is currently focusing on building a smelter grade alumina refinery (SGAR) in Mempawah, West Kalimantan. This project collaborates with PT Inalum (Persero), a processing capacity of 1 million SGA per year (phase I).

Throughout 2020, Antam recorded bauxite sales of 1.23 million wmt with a production rate of 1.55 million wmt.
