BUMI Coal Sales Drop on La Nina

Jakarta - PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) announced a 16% decline in coal sales volume to 33.8 million tons in the first half of this year from 40.2 million tons in the same period last year.

The decline in sales volume was due to the low production volume of around 14% to 34.5 million tons from 40.1 million tons.

"However, this decline was offset by a 92% increase in coal prices to US$108 per ton from US$56.2 per tonne," said the Director of BUMI Dileep Srivastava in a press release on Friday (9/2).

He reasoned the decline in sales and production volume achievements as a result of the La Nina phenomenon since December 2021. With drier weather, production can be increased.

BUMI plans to produce 75-83 million tons this year, with an estimated average price of US$120-125 per ton.
