The rupiah exchange rate on Thursday (29/7) is predicted to strengthen against the US dollar following this morning, the US central bank confirmed that it would still maintain its monetary easing policy.

"The US Central Bank's statement this morning provided clear direction for market participants that interest rates will not be raised in the near future even though the US economy has improved at this time," said money market analyst Ariston Tjendra in Jakarta.

Furthermore, the Fed is still worried about developing the delta variant of COVID-19 cases, and there are still many people who have not found jobs.

"This attitude encourages the weakening of the US dollar exchange rate," he explained.

The rupiah exchange rate has the potential to strengthen to the range of 14450 per US dollar, with the potential to weaken to the range of 14500 per US dollar.
