BI: Money Supply Grows 13.6% in April 2022

Jakarta - Bank Indonesia recorded growth in economic liquidity or money supply in a broad sense (M2) in April 2022.

"The position of M2 in April 2022 was recorded at Rp7,911.3 trillion, or grew by 13.6% (YoY), higher than the growth in March 2022, which was recorded at 13.3% (YoY)," said BI Executive Director Erwin Haryono on Friday (5/27).

According to him, the growth in the money supply in the narrow sense (M1) of 20.8% (YoY), and securities other than shares of 59.3% (YoY), supported this development.

The continued acceleration of lending mainly influenced the increase in M2 growth in April 2022. Credit disbursement in April 2022 grew 8.8% (YoY), an increase compared to the previous month's growth of 6.4% (YoY).

In addition, the government's financial expansion slowed, reflected in the growth in net claims to the Central Government of 22.3% (YoY), lower than the 27.9% (YoY) growth in March 2022.
