BI: Money Supply Increases in December 2022

Jakarta - Bank Indonesia noted that economic liquidity, or money supply in a broad sense (M2), in December 2022 grew positively.

"The position of M2 in December 2022 was recorded at Rp8,525.5 trillion or grew 8.3% (YoY)," said BI Executive Director Erwin Haryono in an official publication on Wednesday (1/25).

The growth in the narrow money supply (M1) of 9.5% (YoY) and quasi-money of 6.8% (YoY) drove the development.

The development of net foreign assets and lending will mainly influence the development of M2 in December 2022.

Net foreign assets recorded positive growth of 4.9% (YoY), an increase compared to growth in the previous period of 1.0% (YoY).

Meanwhile, lending in December 2022 grew 11.0% (YoY), slightly higher than the previous month's 10.9% growth and in line with the development of productive and consumptive loans.
