INCO's Nickel Output Falls 16.5% in 2nd Quarter

Jakarta - PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO) recorded nickel production in matte (ton) during the second quarter of this year of 12,567 tons, 16.48% lower than last year of 15,048 tons.

"This was caused by the replacement of the roof of Furnace 1 and a full maintenance shutdown in early June, while the redevelopment of Furnace 4 has resulted in lower production in the second quarter than previously," said Vale CEO Febriany Eddy in a press release on Wednesday (7/20).

He added that overall production in the first half of this year decreased 13% to 26,394 tons from last year's period, which reached 30,246 tons.

"However, we inform you that Furnace 4 has started to burn since June 18, 2022. The construction of Furnace 4 will take six months or 187 days. We are glad that there were no serious injuries to the project team during construction," he said.

The construction is planned to be implemented and controlled to meet production
