BI: Balance of Payment Surplus in 1st Quarter


Jakarta - Bank Indonesia announced that Indonesia's balance of payments (BOP) performance in the first quarter of 2022 remained good, thus supporting external resilience.

"In the first quarter of 2022, the current account surplus continued despite the capital and financial account deficit, resulting in a deficit of US$1.8 billion in the balance of payments," said BI Executive Director Erwin Haryono on Friday (5/20).

With these developments, BI recorded the position of foreign exchange reserves at the end of March 2022 at US$139.1 billion, or enough to cover 7.0 months of imports and government foreign debt, which was above international adequacy standards.
