Timah Metal Sales Decline 60% YoY in 2nd Quarter


Jakarta - PT Timah Tbk (TINS) recorded sales of tin metal in the second quarter of 2021 at 12,523 tons or 60 percent lower than the same period last year, which reached 31,508 tons.

The low sales were due to a 57 percent decline in tin production to 11,915 tons from the previous 27,833 tons.

Director of Finance and Risk Management, Wibisono, said that tin ore products fell 54 percent to 11,457 tons compared to the same period last year which reached 25,081 tons.

"Of this amount, marine tin ore provides the largest contribution," said the statement on Tuesday (31/8).

According to Wibisono, the current increase in metal demand as the COVID-19 pandemic subsidies has led to stable metal prices, impacting the development of the downstream tin industry. Therefore, the company expects the condition will be one of the engines for boosting the company's performance throughout this recovery year.
