Surge in COVID-19 Cases Dragged JCI

The Jakarta Composite Index at the opening of trading on Wednesday (14/7) was corrected by 3.79 points, triggered by the high number of COVID-19 transmissions.

"The explosion of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has not subsided until now and continues to set new records," said PT Samuel Sekuritas, Researcher.

Furthermore, the still high number of transmissions means the possibility of an extension of the emergency community activity restriction PPKM becomes increasingly real.

"We estimate that the JCI will weaken again today. Another thing that weighs on the market is the reduction in the projection of economic growth from 4.1-5.1% to 3.8%. Then the weakening of global markets is also a negative sentiment," added the research.

Meanwhile, at the opening of trading on Wednesday, the JCI opened falling 3.79 points (0.06%) to 6,008.24. Meanwhile, the leading stock index LQ45 fell 0.95 points (0.11%) to 834.78.
