SOEs in Fisheries Boost Exports to Asia


The planned merger of PT Perikanan Nusantara and Perum Perindo can support the export of Indonesian fishery products to international markets and benefit the fishermen's ecosystem and MSMEs.

As coordinator of the SOE Food Cluster, President Director of PT RNI (Persero), Arief Prasetyo Adi, said, based on the results of the study on the merger of several SOEs incorporated in the food cluster, the merger will realize the potential for synergies to increase sales, including the fisheries sector.

"This week, Perinus exported octopus to Japan after Perindo exported mackerel fish to fulfill orders from Thailand last week," Arief explained in a written statement, Monday (7/6).

The export of Perinus, which took place on June 4, 2021, was in the form of a frozen octopus of 12,192.4 kg with a total transaction of US$ 71,679.52 or equivalent to Rp1.03 billion. The catch was exported from the fishing partners of the Perinus Makassar Branch.
