Jakarta - PT Sentra Food Indonesia Tbk (FOOD) said it had reduced around 33.5% of its workers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

FOOD Corporate Secretary Karina Larasati said the drastic decline in market conditions due to the pandemic caused sales and production to weaken significantly or nearly 50%.

The condition of the FOOD business entity, PT Kemang Food Industries (KFI), has also tried to survive for more than 1.5 years, but conditions have not improved.

As of August 2021, KFI has reduced approximately 117 workers, including laying off around 16.9% of workers and reducing 16.6% of contract workers. Thus, there are 33.5% of workers affected by the pandemic.

"The aim of reducing workers is to avoid mass layoffs and save 292 other people who make up the majority of workers at KFI," in his official statement on Tuesday (14/9).
