BPS: Mining Sector Expands Most, Agricultures Sector Slows in August


Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency BPS reported that the mining and other sectors experienced the highest growth in August 2021, 162.89% on an annual basis and 27.23% on a monthly basis. The export value of the mining and other sectors in August 2021 reached US$3.64 billion.

"For mining and other groups, if we look at the commodity that grew, coal grew 22.01%. Then, copper ore grew by 42.28%, and lignite by 38.54%," said Head of BPS Margo Yuwono in a virtual press conference on  Wednesday (15/9).

He continued, the second annual growth was oil and gas, with an increase of 77.93% YoY and 7.48% MoM. Its export value was US$1.07 billion.

The processing industry followed suit with an increase of 52.62% YoY and 20.67% MoM, with an export value of US$16.37 billion.

"The commodity palm oil grew 68.98%, iron or steel grew 10.69%, tin by 56.29%," he added.
