Jakarta - PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk (SGRO) is currently reviewing the possibility to enter the downstream sector of the palm oil business, such as biodiesel fuel and biofuel or FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester).

"In the long term, the company is looking at expansion in the downstream sector of palm oil. We are optimistic that the company's performance can continue to grow this year," said Sampoerna Agro Director Heri Harjanto in a statement on Thursday (16/9).

According to Heri, the business potential of palm oil downstream is enormous. However, the company does not yet have sufficient production capacity to enter this sector.

"So far, SGRO can produce 400 thousand to 500 thousand tons of CPO. From an economic scale, it is not necessary to immediately go down to the downstream business, but the opportunities are continuously being studied," he explained.
