Rupiah Strengthens Amid Strengthening US Bond Yield


The rupiah exchange rate (exchange rate) transacted between banks in Jakarta on Tuesday (20/4) morning strengthened amid the increase in yields on US bonds.

At 10.10 WIB, the rupiah had risen 3 points (0.02%) to Rp14,562 per US dollar compared to the previous close of trading of Rp14,565 per US dollar.

"The US treasury 10-year yield rose to the level of 1.61 percent amid investors' monitoring of the company's earnings performance and the progress of the re-opening of the economy," wrote the Mega Capital Sekuritas Research Team in a study in Jakarta, Tuesday.

The dollar index was corrected to a level of 91.08 in late trading Monday (19/4), the lowest level in six weeks against other major currencies.

This was triggered by the market considering the fall in US government bond yields last week after the US central bank, The Federal Reserve, reiterated that any spike in inflation is likely to be temporary.
