Rupiah Seen Strengthen on Falling US Treasury Yield

The rupiah exchange rate (exchange rate) on Wednesday (9/6) has the potential to strengthen to the range of 14,230 per US dollar in line with the declining yield of 10-year US government bonds.

"Currently the yield is depressed at around 1.53%, after moving in the previous trade at around 1.57%," said money market observer Ariston Tjendra in Jakarta.

He added that market participants still put aside concerns about rising inflation in the US, changing the US monetary policy to become tighter.

Markets are looking forward to data on the US inflation indicator, the consumer price index due later Thursday. The results of data showing rising inflation could push US yields to rise again.

Back home in the country today will be the release of survey data on consumer confidence levels for the month of May by BI.

The data has seen an upward trend since the beginning of this year and has entered an optimistic trend since last April.
