Jakarta - The rupiah exchange rate on Thursday (2/9) has the potential to strengthen against the US dollar as indications that the US labor sector is still not recovering as before the pandemic.

"This could be the reason for the US Central Bank to extend its low interest rate policy," said money market analyst Ariston Tjendra in Jakarta.

However, the gains may be limited as market participants are still waiting for further confirmation of the government's version of the US employment data due Friday evening.

The same indications with data from the private sector could encourage further US dollar weakness.

The potential for strengthening of the rupiah against the US dollar to the range of 14,230-14,250 per US dollar, while resistance is in the range of 14,300 per US dollar.
