Rupiah Seen Strengthen Against Dollar on Investors' Appetite for Risky Assets

On Wednesday (4/8), the rupiah exchange rate may strengthen against the US dollar, driven by the market interest in risky assets, which is still seen as high as stock indices in the US and parts of Europe rose overnight.

"The company's improved performance in the second quarter has stimulated market interest in risk," said Money Market Observer Ariston Tjendra in Jakarta.

The rupiah has the potential for strengthening towards 14,300 per US dollar with potential resistance in the range of 14,380 per US dollar.

On the other hand, market concerns about the increase in global COVID-19 cases may put a brake on the strengthening of the exchange rate against the US dollar.

The market is still wary of the movement of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, which is still showing an increase despite the downward trend.
