PTBA Takes Over Pelabuhan Ratu Coal Fired Power Plant


Jakarta - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and PT PLN are exploring the early retirement of the coal-fired power plant in Pelabuhan Ratu, West Java.

"The cooperation with PLN in conducting the early retirement of coal-fired power plants is in line with PTBA's vision to become a world-class energy and chemical company that cares about the environment. We hope it can achieve the targets for reducing carbon emissions and ensure energy security is maintained, "said PTBA President Director Arsal Ismail in an official statement on Thursday (10/20).

Arsal explained that the early termination program would cut the operational period of the Pelabuhan Ratu coal-fired power plant from 24 years to 15 years. The reduction in operational life will be accompanied by the potential to cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 51 million tons, or equivalent to Rp 220 billion.
