Brief of Company Background
PT Lippo General Insurance Tbk was originally established on September 6, 1963 under the name PT Asuransi Brawidjaja. On October 1, 1982 the company name was changed to PT Asuransi Marga Pusaka. On January 9, 1991 the company changed its business domicile from Surabaya to Jakarta. Then on July 6, 1991 the company name was changed to PT Lippo General Insurance.
After the Public Offering of the Company's Shares to the public, on April 21, 1997, PT Lippo General Insurance became a public company, and the name of the company was changed to PT Lippo General Insurance Tbk. On July 22, 1997 the shares of PT Lippo General Insurance Tbk were listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange “IDX”. Some of the product categories offered include fire insurance, health insurance for individuals, families, and company employees, motor vehicle insurance, transportation insurance, and various other insurance.
In 2023, PT Lippo General Insurance Tbk became part of the Hanwha company. Hanwha Life Insurance Co., Ltd. is the first life insurance company established in South Korea, is the second largest insurance company with Total Assets of 163+ Trillion KRW and Net Profit of 1,249 Billion KRW (data as of 2021). In addition, Hanwha Life has expanded into more international markets than any other Korean life insurance company.
