PT Pertamina (Persero) signed a cooperation amendment in the coal gasification project (DME Coal), on Tuesday (11/5).

The signing was done virtually between Indonesia and the United States.

This agreement is also an agreement on the Processing Service Agreement for the coal gasification process, one of the government's programs to improve national energy security.

SOEs Minister Erick Thohir assessed that coal gasification is one form of improving the national economy in general. In addition to maximizing its potential, this project will also eliminate dependence on imported projects.

"Coal gasification has direct added value to the national economy at a macro level. It will save trade balance, reduce dependence on LPG imports, and save foreign exchange reserves," he said in a press release, Tuesday (11/5).
