Pertamina Extinguishes All Hotspots at the Balongan Refinery

PT Pertamina claimed the emergency team had extinguished all hotspots that burned four oil tanks at the Balongan Refinery complex, Indramayu, West Java.

Pertamina Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications and Investor Relations Agus Suprijanto said the fire was extinguished entirely on Wednesday at 14.35 WIB thanks to intensive extinguishing efforts over the past three days.

"Thanks to teamwork and support from various parties, all hotspots have been extinguished," in his statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (31/3).

Previously, the emergency team had extinguished the fire in three tanks, namely T-301H on Wednesday at 01.30 WIB in the morning, followed by T-301E at 06.44 WIB, and tank T-301G at 08.30 WIB.

To ensure blackout conditions in all affected tanks, Pertamina continues to cool and supervise until all locations are declared safe.

If the potential for fire no longer appears, Pertamina will immediately re-operate the Balongan Refinery.
