BI: Cash Withdrawals Rises 16.6% during Eid al-Fitr Festive vs Year Ago

Jakarta - Bank Indonesia noted that cash withdrawals during Ramadan and the 2022 Eid al-Fitr holiday increased 16.6% to Rp180.2 trillion compared to the completion of 2021 (YoY) Rp154.5 trillion.

"This growth is higher than the growth before the pandemic (May 2019), which was 9.21% (YoY)," said BI Executive Director Erwin Haryono in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/10).

He explained that the realization was still within the range of cash allocations that BI had prepared to anticipate the needs of public transactions during Ramadan and Eid in 2022.

In line with that, non-cash transactions through BI-FAST, which remained fully operational during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, also grew.

In April 2022, the nominal value of BI-FAST transactions increased by 51.88% (MoM) to Rp100.25 trillion, and the volume of transactions increased by 32.72% (MoM) to 24.55 million.

The highest nominal transaction occurred on D-7 Eid Al-Fitr 2022
