PT Pelita Samudera Shipping Tbk (PSSI) has diversified outside the coal transportation sector to improve performance amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Quite challenging global economic situation due to the pandemic, has spurred the company to be more adaptive. The company could not rely solely on coal transportation, to see business opportunities so that the business can be sustainable," said President Director of PT Pelita Samudera Shipping Tbk Iriawan Alex Ibarat in a statement on Thursday (12/8).

According to Iriawan, since 2019, the company has diversified outside the coal transportation sector.

"For 2021 PSSI targets 30% of revenue from the non-coal sector and will continue to increase. Currently, we continue to develop the company's diversified portfolio," he explained.
