BPS: Trade Surplus Continues in February 2022


Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency BPS announced that Indonesia's trade balance in February 2022 recorded a surplus of US$3.83 billion.

"This surplus exceeds the previous month's surplus of US$0.96 billion," BPS Head Margo Yuwono said in an official statement issued in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/16).

According to Margo, this positive performance has continued Indonesia's trade balance surplus since May 2020. The trade balance surplus in February 2022 resulted from an increase in the non-oil and gas trade balance surplus in the face of an increasing oil and gas trade balance deficit.

In February 2022, the non-oil and gas trade balance surplus reached US$5.73 billion, higher than the surplus in the previous month of US$2.29 billion. Non-oil and gas exports increased to US$19.47 billion in February 2022 from US$18.27 billion in January 2022, supporting this positive trend.
