Indonesia Records Trade Surplus of US$5.73 Billion in October


Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency BPS recorded that Indonesia's trade balance was in a surplus of US$5.73 billion in October 2021.

"This October surplus mainly came from the non-oil and gas sector worth US$6.60 billion. Meanwhile, in the oil and gas sector, there was a deficit of US$0.87 billion," said Head of BPS Margo Yuwono in an online press conference on Monday (15/11).

According to Margo, the value of Indonesia's exports as of October 2021 reached US$22.03 billion, up 6.89% compared to September 2021 exports or grew 53.35% compared to October last year.

Non-oil and gas exports in October 2021 also increased by 6.75% or US$21.00 billion compared to September 2021 or an increase of 52.75% compared to October last year.

"Cumulatively, the value of Indonesia's exports from January to October 2021 reached US$186.32 billion, an increase of 41.80% compared to the same period last year. Likewise, non-oil and gas exports reached US$176.47 billion, an increase of 41.26%," he explained.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's import value as of October 2021 was recorded at US$16.29 billion, up 0.36% compared to September 2021 or an increase of 51.06% compared to the October 2020 period.

Oil and gas imports as of October 2021 were worth US$1.90 billion, up 1.68% compared to September 2021 or up 75.94% compared to October 2020.

Non-oil and gas imports in October 2021 were recorded at US$14.39 billion, up 0.19% compared to September 2021 or up 48.29% compared to October 2020.
