Jakarta - PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) recorded a profit growth attributable to owners in the first semester of 2022 of around 105.79% to Rp18.174 trillion, compared to the same period last year of only Rp8.831 trillion.

The company's financial report released on Friday (7/29) showed that the profit gain was boosted by ASII's higher net income of around 33.79% to Rp143.692 trillion from Rp107.395 trillion.

In addition, ASII managed to pocket a fair value gain on its investment in PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk of Rp3.712 trillion and earned a foreign exchange gain of Rp49 billion from a loss of Rp23 billion.

Unfortunately, ASII has not been able to suppress the increase in the cost of goods sold, which swelled by around 30.25% to Rp110,141 trillion from Rp84.559 trillion.

Selling expenses increased by around 11.6%, to Rp5.535 trillion from Rp4.956 trillion. On the other hand, interest income decreased by about 5.15% to Rp1.233 trilli
