Jakarta - PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk (INDF) recorded a decrease in profit for the period attributable to owners of around 16% to Rp2.90 trillion in the first half of this year from Rp3.34 trillion in the same period last year.

"The low-profit achievement was triggered by the increase in foreign exchange losses that have not been realized from funding activities," said Indofood President Director Anthony Salim in a press release on Wednesday (8/31).

He added that due to the eroding profit for the year, the net profit margin was depressed to 5.5% from 7.3%.

Nevertheless, INDF managed to increase its consolidated net sales by 12% to Rp52.79 trillion.

Operating profit rose 4% to Rp8.83 trillion from Rp8.49 trillion, but the operating profit margin shrank to 16.7% from 17.9%.
