Jakarta - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) posted a 355% jump in net profit in the first quarter of 2022 to Rp2.28 trillion from the previous year, which was only Rp500.52 billion.

The PTBA's operating income increased by around 105%, to Rp8.21 trillion from Rp3.99 trillion, supporting the net profit increase.

"This brilliant achievement is supported by the company's solid operational performance throughout the first quarter of 2022. Prioritizing cost leadership in every company line, the company implements sustainable efficiency optimally," said PTBA Corporate Secretary Appolonius Andwie in an official statement on Thursday (5/19).

He continued, "PTBA's coal production in the first three months of this year rose 40% to 6.34 million tons, while coal transportation volume also grew 16% to 6.17 million tons."
