Jakarta - PT PLN  recorded an increase in profit for the current period attributable to owners in the first quarter of this year by around 8.12% to Rp5.308 trillion from the same period last year of Rp4.909 trillion.

The financial report of the state-owned electricity company on Friday (7/1) showed the strengthening of operating income supported profit growth by around 9.55% to Rp. 95.924 trillion from Rp87.554 trillion.

Along with the increased operating income, operating expenses also swelled by around 18.93% to Rp. 84.599 trillion from Rp71.131 trillion.

The soaring operating expenses depressed operating profit by around 31.04% to Rp11,324 trillion from Rp16,423 trillion.

Nevertheless, PLN managed to increase other income by around 3.98% to Rp1.018 trillion from Rp979 billion. Foreign exchange losses fell by nearly 99.76% to Rp13.149 billion from Rp5.588 trillion.
