BI: Retail Sales Seen Growing in June


Jakarta - Bank Indonesia announced that it expected retail sales performance in June 2022 to grow on an annual basis. This is reflected in the June 2022 Real Sales Index (RSI) of 229.1, or grew 15.4% (YoY).

"This growth is in line with the increase in sales of the food, beverage, and tobacco group, the clothing sub-group, as well as the spare parts and accessories group," said Executive Director Erwin Haryono on Monday (7/11).

On a monthly basis, retail sales will again fall by 2.1% (MoM). The decline mainly occurred in the food, beverage, and tobacco categories, as well as in the cultural and recreational goods categories, amid rising sales in the spare parts and accessories category and motor vehicle fuel.

In May 2022, the results of the Retail Sales Survey (RSS) indicated that retail sales continued to grow positively on an annual basis. IPR in May 2022 was recorded at 234.1 or grew 2.9% (YoY), supported by sales of the Cultural and Recreat
