JCI Opens Higher, Tracking Rise in Global Markets


The Jakarta Composite Index at the opening of trading Monday (26/7) rose by 7.34 points following the positive sentiment of strengthening global markets.

"We estimate the JCI will move higher today, due to positive movements in global markets, foreign inflows in the regular market and improving commodity prices," said PT Samuel Sekuritas Research in Jakarta.

On the other hand, Bank Indonesia decided to maintain the benchmark interest rate (BI7DRR) at the level of 3.5%, in line with expectations.

Bank Indonesia also revised the projection for Indonesia's economic growth in 2021 to 3.5% – 4.3%, lower than the previous projection of 4.1%–5.1%).

The JCI at the opening of trading on Monday rose 7.34 points (0.12%) to 6,109.03.

Meanwhile, the leading stock index LQ45 rose 1.45 points (0.17%) to 947.16.
