JCI Strengthens, Tracking Rise in Regional, Global Markets


Jakarta – Positive regional and global sentiment boosted the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) by 6.93 points at the start of trading on Monday (23/8).

"We anticipate that the JCI will continue to strengthen today, reflecting the good trend in regional and global exchanges," said PT Samuel Sekuritas Research in Jakarta.

On Monday, the JCI rose 6.93 points (0.11 %) to 6,037.7. Simultaneously, the leading stock index LQ45 increased 2.48 points (0.29 %) to 857.52.

For global conditions, at the close of trading last week, there was a rebound in the US market where the Dow Jones Index rose 0.65%, the S&P 500 rose 0.78%, the Nasdaq rose 1.08%.

From the US, market players' attention was still on the tapering issued by the Fed.

Meanwhile, the Asian regional markets opened higher this morning, with the Kospi up 0.92% and the Nikkei up 0.94%.
