JCI Strengthens, Tracking Rise in Global Markets


Jakarta - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) at the opening of trading on Wednesday (9/2) opened up 22.23 points in line with positive movements in regional and global markets.

"We estimate the JCI will move higher this morning in line with regional and global market movements," said PT Samuel Sekuritas Research in Jakarta.

The JCI at the opening of trading on Wednesday opened up 22.23 points (0.33%) to 6,811.75. Meanwhile, the leading stock index, the LQ45, rose 4.68 points (0.49%) to 966.69.

The US stock market closed higher on Tuesday in global markets, with the Dow Jones index rising 1.06%, the S&P 500 climbing 0.84%, and the Nasdaq gaining 1.28%.

The index movement was driven by the release of better-than-expected financial performance from several companies, such as Harley-Davidson and DuPont.

Meanwhile, Asian markets opened green this morning. The Kospi rose 0.82%, and the Nikkei rose 0.71%.
