JCI Rises, Tracking Global Markets


Jakarta – Positive regional and global sentiments propelled the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) up by 20.75 points at the start of trade on Monday (30/8).

"For the time being, we anticipate the JCI will rise in accordance with the rise in regional and US markets," said PT Samuel Sekuritas Research in Jakarta.

The JCI climbed 20.75 points (0.34 %) to 6,062.11 at the start of trading on Monday. Meanwhile, the LQ45 leading stock index gained 5.6 points (0.66 %) to 851.31.

In terms of global conditions, the US market closed higher last week (27/8), with the Dow Jones index rising 0.69 %, the S&P500 increasing 0.88 %, and the Nasdaq rising 1.23 %.

From the United States, attention was focused on the outcome of the FOMC meeting, which discussed the job recovery, inflation rate, and the potential of tapering before the end of the year.
