Investors Wait and See, JCI Tad Down


Jakarta - The Jakarta Composite Index at the opening of trading on Monday (20/9) opened a correction of 1.21 points as market participants took a wait-and-see action.

"We estimate that the JCI will move sideways today as Indonesian investors will likely follow the steps of US investors who are cautious ahead of the Fed meeting," said PT Samuel Sekuritas Research in Jakarta.

On Monday trading, the JCI opened down 1.21 points (0.02%) to 6,132.03. Meanwhile, the leading stock index LQ45 fell 1.17 points (0.14%) to 861.27.

For global conditions, at the close of last week, the US market moved down where the Dow Jones index fell 0.48%, the S&P 500 lost 0.91%, the Nasdaq fell 0.91% as market players took a cautious stance ahead of the Fed meeting on September 21-22.

The results of the meeting are expected to provide clarity on when the US central bank will start reducing its debt bond purchase program, which is currently recorded at US$
