Investors Wait and See, JCI Opens Higher


Jakarta - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) at the opening of trading on Thursday (2/9) was up 1.72 points amid market participants were on the wait-and-see mode.

"Currently, global markets tend to wait and see starting in September, while domestic markets lack sentiment after the release of inflation data," said PT Samuel Sekuritas Research in Jakarta.

In addition, the majority of commodity prices still tend to weaken.

"Today, we estimate that the JCI will move flat and tend to weaken," said the research

At the opening of trading this Thursday, the JCI opened up 1.72 points (0.03%) to 6,092.65. Meanwhile, the leading stock index LQ45 rose 0.65 points (0.08%) to 861.16.

On the overseas, the US stock exchanges at the close of trading overnight were mixed. The Dow Jones index fell 0.14% to a level of 35.312, while the S&P500 rose 0.03% and the Nasdaq rose 0.33%.
