Indonesia's Balance of Payment Deficit US$400 Million in 2nd Quarter


Jakarta - Indonesia's balance of payments (BOP) in the second quarter of 2021 experienced a deficit of US$0.4 billion.

Head of the Communications Department of Bank Indonesia (BI) Erwin Haryono said this condition was supported by the current account deficit, which remained low, and the capital and financial account surplus continued.

With these developments, the position of foreign exchange reserves at the end of June 2021 reached US$137.1 billion, relatively the same as the position at the end of March 2021.

"Current transactions in the second quarter of 2021 experienced a deficit of US$2.2 billion, equivalent to 0.8% of GDP. This position has increased compared to a deficit of US$1.1 billion or 0.4% of GDP in the previous quarter.
