Indonesia Trade Surplus US$2.36 Billion in May


The Central Statistics Agency BPS announced that Indonesia's trade balance in May 2021 was a surplus of US$2.36 billion. This achievement was higher than the previous month's position of US$2.28 billion.

"The surplus in May 2021 mainly came from the non-oil and gas sector of US$3.49 billion, while in the oil and gas sector there was a deficit of US$1.13 billion," said Head of BPS, Suhariyanto in a virtual press conference, Tuesday (15/6).

Suhariyanto revealed that the value of Indonesia's exports in May 2021 reached US$16.60 billion, down 10.25% compared to exports in April 2021. However, compared to the position in May 2020, the export value grew 58.76 percent.

"Cumulatively, the value of Indonesia's exports from January to May 2021 reached US$83.99 billion, an increase of 30.58% compared to the same period last year. Non-oil and gas exports also increased 30.31 percent to US$79.44 billion," he explained.
