IMF: Indonesia Success in Maintaining Stable Economy


Jakarta - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) assesses that Indonesia has succeeded in maintaining economic stability and the financial sector amid the pandemic, supported by solid macroeconomic performance and a firm and comprehensive policy response.

The policy response includes the policy package contained in the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN), accommodative monetary policy, and efforts in the financial sector to encourage credit. Bank Indonesia welcomed the results of the IMF assessment.

The IMF conveyed this in the 2021 Article IV Consultation report released on Wednesday (3/23).

The IMF's Board of Directors expressed its appreciation and optimistic note on the various policies pursued by Indonesia.

First, the authority's commitment is to gradually return the upper limit of the fiscal deficit to 3% in 2023. Second is the commitment of the monetary policy authority to stay ahead of the curve while still paying attention
