Global Negative Sentiment Pushes JCI Lower

Global negative sentiment triggered a weakening of the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) at the opening of trading Wednesday (19/5) by 17.26 points.

"There are still a lot of negative sentiments making JCI projected to move with a tendency to weaken today," said PT Samuel Sekuritas Research in Jakarta.

At the opening of trading this Wednesday, the JCI was corrected by 17.26 points (0.3%) to the position of 5,817.14. Meanwhile, the leading stock index LQ45 fell 5.03 points (0.58%) to 863.36.

For global conditions, US stock exchanges closed lower overnight. The Dow fell 0.78%, the S & P500 fell 0.85% and the Nasdaq lost 0.56%.

The downturn occurred amid fears of a surge in inflation amid US efforts to reopen its economy.
