Garuda Withdraws Appeal in Fuel Surcharge Case


PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk decided to withdraw the appeal verdict of a fine of AUD19 million and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) case fee that it had previously filed in connection with the case of the fuel surcharge price for cargo.

The Director of Finance and Risk Management of Garuda, Prasetio, submitted the information disclosure to the IDX on Tuesday (20/4).

The Garuda and ACCC lawsuits were held in the Federal Court of New South Wales, Australia. The legal case was decided in the first level court in 2014, where Garuda was initially found not guilty.

Then, for this Federal New South Wales ruling, the ACCC filed an appeal and appealed to the Australian High Court which in the end in 2017, the company was found guilty of fixing the fuel surcharge price, in which to determine it returned the number of fines to be imposed on the company back to the New  South Wales Federal Court, Australia.
