First Session, JCI Falls 0.77% to 5,789


The Jakarta Composite Index in the first trading session today, Tuesday (18/5), fell 45.18 points or 0.77% to 5,788.68.

Three hundred ten stocks fell, 160 stocks rose, and 146 stocks were unchanged. The total volume of transactions reached 11.30 billion shares with a market turnover of Rp6.05 trillion.

The JCI weakening was in line with the seven sectoral indices that dragged it down. The deepest weakness occurred at IDX Technologies which fell 2.49%. Followed by IDX Finance fell 1.43%, and IDX Basic Materials fell 1.16%.

Furthermore, IDX Healthcare fell 1.13%, IDX Properties declined 0.92%, IDX Infrastructure decreased 0.36% and IDX Consumer Cyclical fell 0.29%.

Meanwhile, four other indices managed to strengthen in the first session. The biggest gain was IDX Transportation which gained 0.84%. Followed by IDX Industrial up 0.45%, IDX Energy up 0.08% and IDX Consumer Noncyclical which edged up 0.004%.
